One of the important milestones of this meeting was the public presentation of the project “Villas Romanas de Hispania, experience of sustainable and digital archaeological tourism”, held on June 12.
During the conference, topics such as the sustainability of archaeological tourism, the challenges of digitization and the need to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration were discussed. It brought together expert speakers from the private and public sectors, cultural managers and academic experts in the field.
The micro-stories of the project were presented with emphasis on inspiration and emotion in archaeological tourism by Marc Hernández Güell. In addition, exemplary projects such as Las Médulasthe Cueva de Nerja Foundation, and Complutum in Alcalá de Henares, together with innovative companies such as ARKIKUSspecializing in the virtualization of heritage.
The second day, on June 13, included a participatory round table to define the bases of the future State Network of Archaeological Tourism, with the intervention of collaborative networks such as ARQUEOXARXA, REPAHIS and the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters. The meeting ended with a session of conclusions and proposals to strengthen the cultural tourism model based on archaeological heritage.
This National Meeting has been an opportunity for cooperation between agents in the sector, establishing the foundations of a network that aims to position the archaeological heritage as a sustainable, innovative and structuring tourism resource for the territory.
